Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given an update on Bukayo Saka after he was substituted during the 1-0 win over Tottenham - and it isn't ideal for Gunners fans.

Arteta's side secured an away north London derby victory through Gabriel Magalhaes' 68th-minute winner.

While it was yet another result to celebrate at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the Gunners, there was concern over Saka.

The winger pulled up while chasing a pass from Raheem Sterling, and appeared to be holding his thigh. He was then substituted after treatment.

It was another injury scare for Arsenal after captain Martin Odegaard missed the game through a hamstring problem suffered on international duty with Norway.

Arteta was asked about the situation in his post-match interview - and in an answer that will cause a nervous wait for Arsenal fans, the Spaniard admitted that he did not know exactly what Saka had done.

He said: "I don't know [the extent of the problem]. I made two changes with the front players, and suddenly he's down.

"I looked at the bench and the options that we had and we had to adapt."

Arteta continued: "I don't know exactly what it is, but he could not continue."

Saka will now be assessed by Arsenal's medical staff as they attempt to diagnose the seriousness of the problem.

His injury, if serious, would take some of the gloss off another fine away performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Arsenal remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season, with their only dropped points arriving in the 1-1 draw against Brighton last month.

That game saw Declan Rice controversially shown a second yellow card for delaying the restart, and the midfielder therefore missed the Spurs clash through suspension.

The Premier League could not overturn his red card, as he received two yellow cards. But the league's Key Match Incidents panel unanimously decided that referee Kavanagh was right to send him off regardless.

The panel determined Rice's actions to be 'clear, deliberate and impactful', and stated: "Rice knows what he's doing - it's a gentle touch, but once the referee sees it, he has no choice [but to give him a second yellow card]."
