Mikel Arteta immediately demands two more signings after Arsenal lose to Villarreal

Arsenal have brought in six new players this summer but it appears as though Mikel Arteta still wants a further two reinforcements.

Mikel Arteta has brought in six new faces at Arsenal in the summer but reports claim that the Gunners boss still wants another two recruits before the transfer window finishes.

Having finished third for three consecutive seasons, Arsenal have splashed out around £200 million on new signings going into the 2025/26 campaign.

The North London outfit have strengthened in a number of areas, snapping up £55 million striker Viktor Gyokeres, as well as drafting in Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

All six new additions featured in a 3-2 friendly defeat to Villarreal in a Wednesday night, where Arsenal also lost in a penalty shoot-out.

But it appears as though Arsenal have not yet concluded their summer business. According to a new report from The Times, which assesses every Premier League club's situation, Arteta still wants a direct left winger and a creative midfielder.

It's claimed they plan to make contact with Crystal Palace about Eberechi Eze, whose £68 million release clause expires last Friday - two weeks before the new Premier League season.

Arsenal are hopeful of getting the England international for a lower fee and believe they have a good chance of doing so towards the end of the window, with Eze having two years remaining on his deal at Selhurst Park.

Moreover, they are still monitoring the situation of Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes at Real Madrid - with Arsenal waiting to see if the Brazilian would be available on loan.

Liverpool are also said to be keeping tabs on Rodrygo, while Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Paris Saint-Germain could go back in for him depending on what happens with Bradley Barcola.

Nuno Tavares, Marquinhos, Kieran Tierney, Jorginho, Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu have all departed the Emirates Stadium, while Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson also look set to move on permanently.

The clear-out could well continue, with the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Leandro Trossard also said to be available for transfer if suitable offers arrive.

Arsenal take on Athletic Club in their final pre-season on Saturday, before they travel to Old Trafford to play Arsenal in their season opener on Sunday 17 August.
