Arsenal fans have got excited after spotting one of the club's long-term transfer targets at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are heading into the January window in an challenging position, in the context of suffering from several defensive injuries and needing to find solutions on the right wing to cover for Bukayo Saka.

Saka will miss at least two months after having surgery on a serious hamstring injury.

Leandro Trossard replaced him for the 1-0 win over Ipswich on December 27, with captain Martin Odegaard assuming Saka's role on the right of attack.

Whether Mikel Arteta sticks with that setup or signs a replacement for Saka that will eventually cause competition between the two players remains to be seen.

One position that may be less likely to be targeted is midfield - but Gunners fans have got excited after spotting one of the club's previous targets at the Emirates Stadium.

Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber - twin brother of Arsenal star Jurrien - posted a photo on Instagram showing himself at the Emirates Stadium for the 1-0 win over Ipswich.

He captioned the post: "Flight's booked."

The 23-year-old was linked with a move to the Gunners back in April but nothing materialised.

Reacting to the photo, one Arsenal fan wrote on Reddit: "You have no idea how much I want this guy to play for us some day just to have twins in the squad."

A second wrote: "I would love him, but it would need to be something more serious than bench option for him to consider."

A third simply stated: "I am begging."

While a fourth joked: "If he can play LB Mikel will take him."

And a fifth explained: "I don't think you can come as a captain and star player from Feyenoord to be bench option. He can go anywhere in La Liga, EPL, Serie A to start... except for like one to three clubs in those leagues."
