Arsenal may have a 'secret weapon' to help sign Brentford goalkeeper David Raya amid speculation that he could move to the Emirates this summer.

The Gunners are considering a move for the 27-year-old this summer to compete alongside current No. 1 Aaron Ramsdale, with Matt Turner rumoured with a move to Nottingham Forest.

Bayern Munich were originally linked with Raya, only for talks to stall over a loan move. Manchester United and Tottenham were also admirers of the Spaniard, but instead opted to sign but signed Andre Onana and Guglielmo Vicari respectively.

In a turn of events, Raya is said to be keen on a move to Arsenal and Mikel Arteta may hold the key to his signature.

If Raya were to move to north London, he would be reunited with former Brentford goalkeeper coach Inaki Cana, who now works alongside Arteta at London Colney.

According to Italian news outlet Calciomercato, the Gunners are preparing a £30 million bid for the Spain international. However, Bees boss Thomas Frank has confirmed that he will only sell Raya if his £40m asking price is met.

Speaking after his side’s 3-3 pre-season draw with Aston Villa, the Frank said: "All the links, all the hustle and bustle, and if it gets done we'll know it. I don't know too much.

"I am not dealing with it... like everything it is a negotiation. I would love to get £40m. He was one of the four best keepers in the Premier League last season.

"Declan Rice had one year left and was sold for £105m. Harry Kane is being spoken of as £100m+. So for a keeper, at his best age [it's fair]. Good thing I am not negotiating!"
