Arsenal fans think they got revenge for West Ham pettiness on Declan Rice announcement

Arsenal fans think they got revenge for West Ham pettiness on Declan Rice announcement

The Rice announcement has caused a bit of controversy between the clubs, and he has now moved to Arsenal.

Arsenal fans think that the club's announcement that they'd signed Declan Rice was in order to get 'revenge' on West Ham United's pettiness.

Whilst many would have still been trying to have a relaxing Saturday morning in bed, the Hammers decided to give a sudden jolt to a sleepy weekend.

The Premier League side got ahead of their London rivals in announcing that Rice had left the club, doing so without mentioning the buying club at all.

It was reportedly all to do with West Ham's unhappiness that it took the Premier League runners up so long to sort the deal out and slow down their own plans once their captain had gone.

Several hours later and Mikel Arteta's team finally got round to making the announcement of signing their most expensive player ever.

Arteta was front and centre as well as the camera turned on at the beginning of a team meeting, only showing a small section of the team.

The manager then announced the latest addition to the squad as the camera panned around to see the 24-year-old sat amongst his new teammates.

Now one fan has come up with a theory about the announcement, noticing that it was done at 13.05 on Saturday afternoon.

That is obviously 1.05 pm, or 105, as in the amount of millions that Arsenal have paid for the England international.

"Ok, that's f****ng epic!!", laughed one fan.

"Thought I was the only one who noticed," said a second.

A third simply stated: "You love to see it."

"Both clubs were petty but we had the last laugh," replied another.

Not everyone was fully on board with the thought process though, with one commenting: "Not pettiness just a small Easter egg if anything."

Rice will only go for his full price if he can help lead the Gunners to the Champions League five times while he remains at the Emirates Stadium.

His former club better beware of his return at the beginning of next year, after he promised to play to his very best when he comes up against them.
