Arsenal star told he needs to improve or face being sold after performance vs Bolton

Arsenal star told he needs to improve or face being sold after performance vs Bolton

Arsenal fans were not impressed with one player.

Arsenal fans have criticised one player after their Carabao Cup third round win over Bolton - and claim he could be sold if he doesn't improve.

The Gunners strolled into a 2-0 lead at half-time against League One opposition, with 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri scoring his first professional goal for the club.

He then made it a brace shortly after half-time, with Declan Rice netting the opener on 16 minutes.

But four minutes later, John McAtee assisted former Wolves academy product Aaron Collins to pull a goal back for the Trotters, who sit 19th in League One under Ian Evatt but did thrash Reading 5-2 on Saturday.

The game was over as a contest by 65 minutes when Raheem Sterling scored his first Arsenal goal, before Kai Havertz capitalised on a rebound from a Sterling shot to make it 5-1.

But Gunners fans still raised concerns despite the result.

Those concerns were aimed at Gabriel Jesus, whom Arsenal fans believe didn't have his best game in a Gunners shirt.

One fan wrote: "Gabriel Jesus needs to play much better this isn't good enough."

Another mused: "With this rout, Gabriel Jesus is still yet to score a goal. He is not even looking like he will."

A third commented: "Gabriel Jesus needs a goal for his confidence. He's been absolutely abysmal tonight."

A fourth asked: "When was the last time Gabriel Jesus scored for Arsenal?"

And a fifth stated: "Arteta should start looking for strikers he'll buy in January because we can't continue like this."

Jesus hasn't scored for Arsenal in a competitive match since January 30, when he netted in a 2-1 Premier League win over Nottingham Forest.

That is his only strike in 2024, though the Brazil forward has seen his starting opportunities limited over recent months.

His only start this season was in the 0-0 draw at Atalanta in the Champions League, but he was substituted after 58 minutes.
