Fans have been mocking Arsenal after they installed a dark Premier League trophy at their training ground.

During the 22/23 season, Arsenal were the surprise package as they mounted a Premier League title charge.

Despite leading the way for the majority of the season, the Gunners were eventually overhauled by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side.

Ahead of the new season, Arsenal have decided to install a dark Premier League at their training ground. You can watch the footage below.

Speaking to new signing Jurrien Timber, Arsenal’s director of football Edu Gaspar said: “Here, we leave the trophy dark like this, but under there, there is a way to make that shiny. We will make that shiny [when we win the Premier League].”

Timber replied: “I like that, I like that!”

However, fans were quick to react on social media.

One said: “That is absolutely tragic, if Tottenham did this they’d get absolutely rinsed.”

Another tweeted: “Arsenal win the trophy for the cringiest club of all time!”

A third fan added: “Why is everyone associated with this organisation so dramatic and pretentious?”

Someone else wrote: “Gold kit and a trophy light these boys thought they were winning it!”

Whilst a fifth commented: “This club gets more and more cringe every day.”

So far in pre-season, Arsenal have played the likes of Nurnberg, MLS All-Stars, Manchester United and Barcelona.

The Gunners will take on Monaco in the Emirates Cup on Wednesday evening before facing City in the FA Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking ahead of the season, manager Mikel Arteta said: “We are now in a period where we play the Emirates Cup and the Community Shield, a period where we need to get some freshness in the legs.

“We have to find that balance in the next few days before the new Premier League season starts.”

He added: “We have got some fresh faces in the squad this year, and I am so pleased that we were able to bring these signings in early in the transfer window so we’ve been able to work with them.”
