A DR Congo fan stayed on his feet and posed for the entire game against Botswana at the Africa Cup of Nations for a brilliant reason.

DR Congo secured their spot in the next round of AFCON following their 3-0 victory over Botswana on Tuesday.

They finished second in Group D, behind leaders Senegal, who topped the group on goal difference.

DR Congo opened their AFCON campaign with a 1-0 victory over Benin before playing out a 1-1 draw with Senegal.

And they beat Botswana 3-0, with Nathanael Mbuku, who is on loan at Montpellier, and ex-Chelsea star Gael Kakuta getting on the score-sheet.

But DR Congo's game against Botswana will be remembered for a fan's incredible gesture in the stands.

DR Congo supporter Kuka Mboladinga stole the show for staying on his feet in the same pose on a makeshift podium for the entire match, which lasted 115 minutes.

Why did Kuka Mboladinga stay on his feet for the entire AFCON game?

The gesture is a tribute to Patrice Lumumba, who was DR Congo's first Prime Minister following their independence from Belgium in 1960 and was assassinated a year later.

Mboladinga bears a striking resemblance to Lumumba and was dressed in a distinctive outfit reflecting the colours of his national team - red trousers, a blue tie and a yellow blazer.

He stood with his right hand raised in salute and did not move an inch for the entirety of the AFCON fixture in a remarkable show of respect.

Mboladinga mimicked the pose struck by the statue of Lumumba in Kinshasa.

The super-fan cut the same pose in DR Congo's win over Benin in their tournament opener and draw with Senegal.

He will likely strike the same pose when the Leopards face Algeria in the last 16 next Tuesday.
