Gazzetta dello Sport's 2014 list on the top 20 young talents in world football makes for interesting reading now

Some of these names are very familiar.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport once published a list of the best talents in world football under the age of 20.

The list was published to help football fans learn more about the players expected to dominate the sport in the future years.

Coming in at first place is former Manchester United youngster Adnan Januzaj. Named on the bench in Sir Alex Ferguson's final game in charge of the club, supporters expected the winger to become a household name.

After a promising start to life under new manager David Moyes, Januzaj signed a new long-term contract to fend off interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

Januzaj received Ryan Giggs' iconic number 11 shirt the following season and struggled.

After loan spells with Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland, he sealed a permanent transfer to Real Sociedad.

He now plays for Sevilla after spending the second part of last season on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir. A solid enough career, but not what the Old Trafford faithful hoped for.

Other Premier League alumni to feature on the list are Gerard Deulofeu, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Memphis Depay. Current stars Raheem Sterling, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial are included too.
