Wes Brown was a solid defender for Manchester United back in the day. Under the wing of Sir Alex Ferguson, the centre-back made 362 appearances for the side, helping them win two Champions Leagues trophies and five Premier League titles along the way.
Though the local lad was a hero among the Red Devils supporters, a player who they came to respect after so many years of service, a world-beater he was not.
Indeed, Brown had made appearances in European football, but even the most defiant Man United would admit that he was not a player who you would consider a 'legend'.
It makes this story all the more strange. Brown made a surprise appearance before England's encounter with Colombia. He tried to make a speech to the travelling support, but was drowned out by the fervent Colombia fans in the stadium.
No one knows quite why Brown was there at the the ground, with many photos surfacing on social media of the former Sunderland man, while plenty at home were equally bemused by the presence of the former player. They especially confused with why he was billed as a 'FIFA legend'.
Wes Brown a FIFA legend. Anyone have any ideas?
