Valon Behrami has been the on the receiving end of death threats after he went in rough on Neymar during Switzerland's 1-1 draw with Brazil.

Philippe Coutinho opened the scoring with a delightful curler and it looked as though the World Cup favourites were set to put a few past the Swiss.

But the Europeans levelled the scoring through a Steven Zuber header and the game ended 1-1.

It was a frustrating evening for Brazil. Their star player, Neymar, was marked out the game and fouled ten times - the most in a World Cup competition since Alan Shearer back in 1998.

Former Premier League player Behrami got stuck into the 26-year-old during the match and was even yellow carded for his challenges.

Now it appears that the Paris Saint-Germain attacker is in a race against time to be fit for Brazil's tie against Costa Rica on Friday.

As a result, midfielder Behrami has been subject to death threats via his Instagram page.

One said: "If you ever come to Brazil we'll get you."

Another said: "I'm going to knock that grin off your face."

Others wrote to Behrami: "Anyone who tangles with Neymar tangles with us all" and "You are on Brazil's blacklist".

Trolls even took out their frustration out on Behrami's girlfriend, Swiss skier Lara Gut.

Following the game, the former West Ham player said: "Neymar always tries to provoke you. He's always going to ground.

"I just tried to do my job, and we got a good result."
