Donny van de Beek's agent has hit out at Manchester United over his client's lack of game time.

Van de Beek arrived at Old Trafford from Ajax in a £40 million deal earlier this summer and has come off the bench in both Premier League games this season.

But agent Sjaak Swart has hit out at the club for their use of the 23-year-old, pointing to Saturday's dramatic 3-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion especially.

"A substitute, I don't like it at all," Swart told VoetbalPrimeur.

"I couldn't do it myself, substituting in with four minutes left to play. Then you'd better let me sit down.

"I have to say he did three more good things. The penalty, where the winning goal came from, came from him.

"But normally they should have lost 1-7. Five times post and bar, Brighton ... They have a nice team, but that shouldn't happen to Manchester United."

Van de Beek did manage to score in opening day defeat to Crystal Palace and he started in last week's Carabao Cup clash with Luton Town.

The Dutchman remains United's only signing so far this summer with the window set to close in the next week.

United have been linked with moves for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho and Porto left-back Alex Telles over the last few days.

When asked about United's lack of activity in the market, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explained why the questions are disrespectful to van de Beek.

"I think you show quite a bit of disrespect to Donny when you say he was the only one, because he is a top player and he strengthens our team and of course we have to concentrate on ourselves," Solskjaer stated per Goal.

"Different clubs have to be allowed to do whatever they do and feel they can. We are working hard to have a competitive squad and team. If and when there are updates we will give you them."

United reportedly had their first bid for Sancho rejected by Dortmund on Tuesday evening.

The Bundesliga outfit are playing hardball with the Red Devils and are holding out for a bid in the excess of £100m.

According to reports, the initial offer United submitted was €80m with various add-ons that would take the deal up to €100m.
