Sven Ulreich has apologised to Bayern Munich supporters in an Instagram post after his blunder led to Real Madrid progressing to the final of the Champions League.
Just moments into the second half of the second-leg Champions League tie, with the game at 1-1, a poor pass from French midfielder Corentin Tolisso caught Ulriech unaware. The goalkeeper ran out towards the ball, but it somehow rolled underneath his body and Real striker Karim Benzema ran in behind and buried the ball into an empty net.

The German giants did eventually draw level through Los Blancos loaned attacker James Rodriguez, but the 2-2 result was not enough to see them through, and the home side knocked them out of the competition on aggregate.

After the match, a sorry Ulriech was pictured on the pitch, sitting alone and seemingly reflecting on his mistake with a sombre expression. Apart from the supporters in the seating area around the back of him, there was no one within about 50 yards of him.
The 29-year-old has since taken to social media to apologise to Bayern Munich supporters for the side falling short in the competition.
The post transcribed says. "Words can not describe how disappointed I am about leaving the CL. We really wanted to reach the final and we did our best and then this unnecessary mistake happened to me. I can not explain it. I'm sorry ... for my team and for you fans."
When mistakes happen to players, possession is perhaps lost, when mistakes happen to goalkeepers, goals are conceded. We just hope this doesn't affect the rest of his career too much.
