'Manchester City Are Now A Bigger Football Club Than Manchester United'

'Manchester City Are Now A Bigger Football Club Than Manchester United'

This is a controversial claim.

Manchester City have been dubbed 'bigger' than bitter rivals Manchester United after a dominant few years in the Premier League.

Both Manchester sides have slipped to defeat to European competition in the last seven days, with City losing the Champions League final and United the Europa League final respectively.

That hasn't stopped talkSPORT pundit Trevor Sinclair saying his former side City are 'leading the way' in all aspects on and off the pitch.

He stated: "I think Manchester City are leading the way.

"They're catching up financially each year, the blueprint of the football club, the investment in the team, the playing staff, what they're winning year-in, year-out."

City have won three Premier League titles in five years while United haven't won it since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

In fact, they've only won four trophies since then and the last one of those came in 2017 under Jose Mourinho.

Jamie O'Hara argued against Sinclair's claims and said United are still the world's biggest club alongside Real Madrid.

He stated: "Manchester United are the biggest club in the world, them and Real Madrid.

"Manchester City are nowhere near that yet. They are successful, a very successful club, but they haven't won a European title, so you can't put them anywhere near Manchester United.

"Sorry, you just can't!"

Sinclair decided to hit back with a reply of his own saying: "For me, say I was asked to go to a football club, forget about my loyalties, what club are you going to go to?"

O'Hara snapped back: "Manchester United!"

Former England international Sinclair then added: "Ah, well I disagree with that. I think you'd go to Manchester City straight away.

"When you look at the fundamentals and the foundations of the football club, the recruitment, the players, the stadium, the training ground, winning trophies year-in, year-out - Manchester United do not do that at this present time.

"So, for me, Manchester City are the bigger club."
