Marcelo Bielsa's side romped to a 5-0 over West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday evening, with their intensity on and off the ball being a key talking point.
Carney spoke after the game and said: "They outrun everyone and credit to them. My only concern would be, will they blow up at the end of the season like the last couple of seasons.
"I actually think they got promoted because of Covid in terms of it giving them a bit of respite. I don't know if they'd have got up if they didn't have that break."
Hang on a minute!

Leeds' official Twitter caught wind of the clip and had their own message for former England international Carney.
They said: "Promoted because of Covid [thinking emoji.] Won the league by 10 points [smiling emoji.] Hi @primevideosport [waving emoji.]"

The Lilywhites won the Championship last season and finished with 93 points, 10 ahead of second placed West Brom on 83 points.
Leeds fans have reacted to the comments and they couldn't disagree more given their form last campaign.
More media nonsense from Karen Carney this time. Spouted the same nonsense about whether Leeds could sustain their style of play until end of the season and believed that we wouldn't have been promoted without the COVID outbreak. Jimmy Hasselbaink as poor as ever alongside her.

Karen Carney back with the blowout trope. We smashed last season because we were fitter and better and went into the Covid break on a winning streak

Karen Carney thinks #lufc got up last season as the Covid break stopped us burning out again(!?)
Give me strength.

Find this staggering, & from a wealth of pundits in today's game. You need to look into the stats, the reasons behind why teams do what they do, & not just us, but others too.
It's occurring more and more often, please do your research and you can then offer better insight... https://t.co/MqdssPxTyx

A bizarre Romaine Sawyers own goal set Leeds off against the Baggies before Ezgjan Alioski, Jack Harrison and Rodrigo made it 4-0 before half-time.
The second half saw less goalmouth action, but Raphinha managed to bend in a lovely fifth to seal victory.
Leeds are up to 11th in the table, while West Brom remain in the relegation zone.
