The former Germany international was in the prime of his career at Madrid but still had a furious bust-up with Mourinho.
Ozil had underwhelmed in a La Liga clash with Deportivo and it saw him replaced by Kaka at half-time.
After hearing the row, Ramos opted to wear Ozil's shirt beneath his own and planned to unveil it if he scored, per Marca.
Per AiScore, Ozil said: "I was alone in the dressing room, Mourinho's words continued in a constant echo in my head.
It was visible to see through Ramos' shirt so if he wanted to be subtle about it, then he wasn't.
"But I appreciated the support of Sergio Ramos, who took my shirt and put it under his. My number '10' was visible on his back.

Current Fenerbache star Ozil discussed his fiery chat with Mourinho in his autobiography and the issues with his style of play.
The passage reads: "You think two beautiful passes are enough. You think you're so good that fifty per cent is enough."
"He pauses. Stares at me with his dark brown eyes. I stare back. Like two boxers at the stare-down before the first round. He shows no emotion.
"Just waits for a response from me. How much I hate him right now. And I love Mourinho actually.
"Oh, are you giving up now? You're such a coward. What do you want? To creep under the beautiful, warm shower? Shampoo your hair? To be alone? Or do you want to prove to your fellow players, the fans out there, and me, what you can do."
Mourinho left Madrid via a mutual agreement in 2013 while Ozil also left that summer to join Arsenal.
The years since have seen Ozil open up on his close friendship with Ramos and the duo still speak regularly.
He said in 2018: "I had a good time there [Madrid], a successful time too and made good friends.
"My best friend was Sergio Ramos and I'm still in contact with him. For me, he's maybe the best defender in the world.
"He's good guy, a good friend and a good singer too! Believe it or not he has a nice voice."
