Toni Kroos didn't have the best of World Cups with Germany. The nation bowed out in the group stages of the tournament. The midfielder's free-kick into the top corner to beat Sweden late on was the only real highlight for the country.
And Kroos' club, Real Madrid, things aren't exactly going well, either. Indeed, it's not like they've lost a bunch of games, but their best player, Cristiano Ronaldo, moved to Juventus, while club legend Zinedine Zidane unexpectedly departed the club also.

But Kroos has started Real's season in the right way, putting in this amazing display against Getafe. It was such a great display, in fact, that it broke a record. Just take a look at these amazing stats.

Kroos is one of the finest players in the world, and if this performance is anything to go by, this could really be the season where he earns himself a Ballon d'or nomination. It would take something really special to win it, though. Especially with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Ronaldo and Lionel Messi knocking about.
