Manchester United's Ole Gunnar Solksjær Fears Chelsea The Most This Season

The Norwegian is reported to see Thomas Tuchel's side as United's greatest threat this season. It's not hard to see why...

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær is rumoured to see Chelsea as their biggest challenger for the Premier League title this season.

That's according to The Sun, who say that the Norwegian considers Thomas Tuchel's men to be so dangerous because of the recent arrival of former United striker Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge.

However, the report does go on to suggest that Solskjær believes The Red Devils are the best equipped to launch a title charge this season and that his current crop of players are better than the treble winning squad of 1999.

It's fair to say that many agree with Solskjær's concerns about Chelsea. The Blues have enjoyed an excellent start to the new season, winning the European Super Cup prior to the restart of the domestic season and proving their credentials with an admirable point at Anfield last time out.

That said, Solskjær may be foolish to discount both Manchester City and Liverpool. Whilst The Citizens have added to their offensive armoury with £100 million man Jack Grealish, Liverpool are back to full strength after an injury-hit seasons, where they were without the talismanic Virgil van Dijk for 9 months.

However, the Manchester United manager is certainly right to feel confident about his side's chances this year. After an expensive summer, in which the club acquired Borussia Dortmund's Jaden Sancho and re-signed Cristiano Ronaldo, expectations are high at Old Trafford, especially after the club's unbeaten start to the new campaign.

Irrespective of this exciting business, there are still some who doubt United's credentials, with former stars Roy Keane and Gary Neville believing there are weaknesses in the squad which will prevent them from getting their hands on the Premier League for the first time since 2013.

Yet the managers of the other clubs expected to be involved in the title race consider United to be a real, genuine threat. Speaking ahead of the new season, City manager Pep Guardiola told the press that Solskjær's side, along with the likes of Tottenham, Leicester and Arsenal, are all 'contenders' for the top prize.

Moreover, Jurgen Klopp feels 'it will be an interesting league' this season, with clubs like United not 'hiding their ambitions' whatsoever.

With such a number of outstanding managers and teams, prepare yourself for a title race to not be as clearcut as Solskjaer is reported to expect.
