Fans Have Spotted EA Sports' Bizarre Decision To Change Kylian Mbappe's Height In FIFA 22

Fans Have Spotted EA Sports' Bizarre Decision To Change Kylian Mbappe's Height In FIFA 22

FIFA 22 users who wish to add Kylian Mbappe to their Ultimate Team roster this year will receive a welcome - if unexpected - boost this year.

That's right, the French international is set to be a bigger threat on set-piece as, contrary to real life, he will be 6ft in the new game - due for release on October 1st.

In FIFA 21, the forward was listed as 5ft10in, which by all accounts is his real-life height. Therefore, unless Mbappe has had a late growth spurt at the age of 22, it seems odd that EA would simply add a couple of inches to his digital height.

Bemused fans took to Reddit to point out the discrepancy, which prompted plenty of reactions on the r/FIFA subreddit.

In response to the post: "Did EA seriously add 2 inches to Mbappe's official height? He was 5ft 10 in FIFA 21.", One user replied, "He's practically the owner of EA Sports."

With the PSG man being the cover star of FIFA 22, plenty of fans are theorising that Mbappe may be using his influence to slightly inflate those all-important in-game statistics

"EA's golden boy", another Redditor commented, while a different user speculated that, because he is a FIFA ambassador, "they probably verified his height and he may have been 6ft rather than 5ft10."

This isn't the first time that FIFA appears to have gotten a players height wrong. For much of his existence in the digital world of FIFA, Cristiano Ronaldo was listed as 6'1, which only changed to the accurate height of 6'2 in FIFA 15.

A quick google search reveals that Mbappe's real-world height is 178 cm, which puts him closer to 5'10 - his FIFA 21 height - than 6ft.

It remains to be seen whether EA will alter this inaccurate stat, not that players of FIFA will mind a great deal when using Mbappe in the game.
