Daniel James Awkwardly Given Tallest Mascot for Man Utd's Clash with AZ Alkmaar

The 5ft 6ins winger was shorter than the child he walked out with before the Europa League clash.

Daniel James was hilariously given the tallest mascot to walk out with ahead of Manchester United's game against AZ Alkmaar.

The 5ft 6ins star was completely hidden by the tall child as the camera panned down the Red Devils team before kick-off.

James, 21, was on the end of the line after coming out of the tunnel last behind all of his team-mates.

It was quite an awkward moment for rising star James, who has made a flying start to his Old Trafford career since a summer switch from Swansea.

It was a moment reminiscent of when N'Golo Kante struggled to see over his mascot before a France game against Bulgaria.

A couple of eagle-eyed social media users also spotted the awkward moment for James.

One wrote: "Awkward moment for Daniel James when the mascot is taller than the player."

Another tweet read: "I swear they always give Daniel James the tallest mascot just to take the piss."

Manchester United were held by AZ Alkmaar in a dire 0-0 draw in Holland.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's didn't have a single shot on target and extended their winless away run to 10 games.
