FIFA 23 Leak Reveals Change To Ultimate Team Positioning Fans Have Demanded For Years

FIFA 23 Leak Reveals Change To Ultimate Team Positioning Fans Have Demanded For Years

A real game changer.

A FIFA 23 leak has revealed there's major changes coming to Ultimate Team's position change feature - and it's something fans have demanded for a long time.

The next instalment of EA Sports' hit franchise is set to launch later this year and it'll be the last to use the FIFA branding.

It promises to be a big one, with recent news confirming new leagues and 2022 World Cup updates after the game's release.

Ultimate Team will be receiving updates too and position changes, which have remained untouched for years, will see the biggest overhaul.

If you've played Ultimate Team at all over the years, you'll know basic position changes are allowed. Right midfield to right wing, central midfielder to central attacking midfielder. All ways to let your players fit into formations.

Respected leaker FUT Sheriff claims players will now come with a secondary position they can be played in, based on their real-life counterpart.

The example used above is Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo. He regularly played left-back for City this season, but his FIFA 22 Ultimate Team card is set as a right-back. If you played him at left-back, he'd lose chemistry for being out of position.

From next year, you'd have the ability to convert Cancelo from a right-back to a left-back for ultimate flexibility.

Position change cards will still be consumables but not locked to one specific position as they are currently.

The system will look more similar to the one used in Career Mode, which lets players move around the pitch without losing stats.

DonkTrading would go on to reveal City defender Kyle Walker has a secondary position of centre back. Walker regularly played in a back three for England at the 2018 World Cup and this is a card you'll get sick of seeing.

Walker is regularly one of the fastest defenders on the game and that's not likely to change in FIFA 23.

He'll be able to catch any forward you have with ease without losing any stats. Terrifying.

None of this has officially been confirmed by EA Sports at the time of writing, but both leakers are known in the community for being reliable.

Other features said to be coming are five substitutions, but it could be kept at three for Ultimate Team if the feature isn't received well.
