Fans Are Convinced Haaland vs Nunez Rivalry Will Be 'Most One-Sided In History'

Premier League fans are convinced the Erling Haaland vs Darwin Nunez rivalry is being overhyped and see one clear winner.

Manchester City confirmed the signing of Haaland for £60 million earlier this year and he'll officially join Pep Guardiola's side on July 1.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have reached an agreement with Benfica for Nunez in a transfer initially worth £64 million.

City pipped Liverpool to the Premier League title by one point this season and they've both dipped into the market for young strikers with the world at their feet.

Some aren't fully convinced by Nunez yet though. The 22-year-old burst onto the scene this year with 34 goals for Benfica and he impressed in the Champions League.

Despite that, questions have been raised about his ability with the ball at his feet and how he'll fit into Jurgen Klopp's system.

Liverpool regularly play with Roberto Firmino or Diogo Jota up front, who are different in stature to Nunez.

On top of that, the Uruguay international simply hasn't got a sample size the same as Haaland's.

Haaland scored a whopping 39 goals in all competitions this campaign while battling injury issues throughout.

Coupled with the fact he's been on the world stage since 2019, supporters think comparing the two strikers already is quite silly.

One commented: "This is not a debate, Haaland is a fully developed player over several seasons. Nunez is no more than a 1 season prospect."

Another said: "Nunez is nowhere near Haaland’s level. There’s no rivalry!"

It was also summed up with: "Haaland is clearly a different level of footballer, he's an absolute freak and a generational talent."

Some are on the side of Nunez however.

They believe he'll be willing to stay on Merseyside longer than Haaland will stay in Manchester and think his lower wages make him a shrewder purchase.

Someone argued: "Haaland is more of a tap in striker while Nunez has it all. Very hard to choose but Nunez comes first."

A second suggested: "Nunez is so clinical, you're gonna regret clowning him."

While a third tweeted: "Stats put Haaland ahead, but I think Nunez will work harder for the team."

Both players will have all the tools to bang the goals in, so it promises to be an exciting battle regardless of the result.

The Premier League fixture list will be announced on June 16 and we'll find out who both will be facing in their English football debuts.

Who do you think will be the better signing? Erling Haaland or Darwin Nunez?
