Gerard Pique essentially put himself on the transfer window and said Barcelona had hit 'rock bottom' after the team were embarrassed by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Having already battered Spurs and Chelsea, and several Bundesliga sides, this season Bayern absolutely walloped Barca 8-2 on Friday night, to reach the semi-finals once again.

The Germans won both halves 4-1 as the Spanish side failed to cope with their attacking ability, and didn't offer anywhere near enough going forward.

Gerard Pique in defence was one of the players most humbled by Bayern's attacking prowess and the club legend was very honest in his post match interview

"I'm in pain. We all are. We can't compete like that. It's very, very tough to take. Nothing more is worth saying. The club needs changes. Not just the players, I don't want to point out anyone.

"If I have to go in order to change things I'll be the first to accept that. This was a horrible game .. it's a dreadful feeling. It's shameful. Structurally we need changes at all levels.

"We must accept that we have hit rock bottom. Not just players but, as a club, we aren't on the right road. We have had years of success but we haven't won the league & we haven't won in Europe and we have to compete. You've seen it on the pitch and this today is unacceptable."

Club president Josep Maria Bartomeu, who has come under criticism in recent years for his running of the club, agreed with Pique about how bad the game was, adding, "We have not lived up to the task, Piqué is right that today has been a disaster. From now on we have to make decisions, some of them we already had in mind before the game and we will execute them in the coming days.

"We would like to apologise to our fans."

This season Barca have failed to win any silverware, they sacked former boss Ernesto Valverde earlier this year after losing in the Supercopa, whilst they were still top of the table, and Lionel Messi reportedly wants to leave the club.

After being totally embarrassed in their Champions League exit for the third season in a row something really needs to change at the club.
