The Blaugrana ran riot at the Santiago Bernabeu and destroyed their bitter rivals 4-0, thanks to a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brace in addition to goals from Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torres.

Vinicius was Madrid's biggest threat coming into the game with Karim Benzema missing through injury.

Barcelona's defence were able to handle the 21-year-old with ease however and it saw Garcia get a little bit cocky in the second half.

While running down the wing, Vinicius was outmuscled by substitute Traore and hit the deck in search of a foul.

He didn't get one and cameras immediately cut to Garcia who was vocal about the incident.

Many expected veteran defender Dani Alves to start out wide with with Araujo partnering Gerard Pique.

The former Manchester City man played well however as Barcelona snapped Real's streak of five El Clasico wins in a row.

Aubameyang was a menace throughout and forced a save from Thibaut Courtois early on.

He wouldn't be denied for long however and headed home the opener in the 29th minute from an Ousmane Dembele cross.

It was a fine performance from Dembele who turned provider once again 11 minutes later, as Araujo doubled Barcelona's lead with a header of his own.

Torres netted just after the break and Aubameyang added his second in the 51st minute to put Xavi's side in dreamland.

He explained post-match per BBC Sport: "I don't know if we can win the title, we can't rule out anything. Maybe we're a bit late, but this is a very big win for us.

"We were much better than Real Madrid. We played almost as a home team in the the ground. It's a day to enjoy, not only as a Barca manager but also a fan.

"We could easily have scored five or six. We changed our negative dynamic of losing the last few Clasicos."
