Manchester City fans in disbelief after seeing shocking Ederson stat in Champions League this season

Some Manchester City fans are convinced they won't lift the Champions League title this season after seeing this Ederson stat...

Manchester City fans were left shocked after seeing a damning statistic about Ederson’s performances in the Champions League this season.

Pep Guardiola’s men punched their ticket to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a 7-0 demolition of RB Leipzig in their second-leg last-16 clash.

Joining City in the quarter-finals are Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Napoli, Benfica and defending Champions League title holders Real Madrid.

City will find out who they will face in the next round of the Champions League on Friday, with the draw expected to take place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Guardiola will be keen to lead City to their first Champions League trophy after falling short of the title in their 1-0 defeat to Premier League rivals Chelsea in 2021.

However, fans are now a little nervous about City’s Champions League campaign after a stat involving Ederson made the rounds on social media.

Ederson’s stats in the Champions League this season were compared to those of Madrid No 1 Thibaut Courtois and Inter shot-stopper Andre Onana.

Both Ederson and Courtois have played six matches in the Champions League, with Onana having two more to his name.

Onana has kept five clean sheets for Inter in the Champions League, which is one more than Ederson and two more than Courtois.

However, the 26-year-old former Cameroon international has conceded seven times, which is more than Courtois (six) and Ederson (two).

Ederson, on the other hand, has a shocking -0.10 goalscoring prevention rate, which is significantly lower than Courtois’ 2.01 and Onana’s 7.93.

“We’re one Ederson injury away from greatness,” one fan said after seeing the aforementioned stat.

Another wrote: “NGL, if City had Alisson, they’d be going for their sixth title in a row and would have had two Champions League right now.”

“He’s actually so bad it’s unbelievable,” a third tweeted.

One Twitter user commented: “Ederson is such a liability, man.”

While a fifth posted: “We are never lifting it, man.”
