Former Manchester United teammate Dwight Yorke tells Gary Neville to 'grow up'

Gary Neville has been told to 'grow up' by former Manchester United teammate Dwight Yorke after trying to compare United and Manchester City.

City are just two wins away from becoming just the second English team in history to win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup in the same season, having already won the league.

The only team to date to achieve the Treble is of course Sir Alex Ferguson's United side, who managed it in the 1998/99 season.

Erik ten Hag's current team are one of two teams who could stop Pep Guardiola from equalling the achievement in the FA Cup final, with Inter Milan the other.

It's been inevitable that there's been plenty of talk about which of the two Manchester sides would be the better, should City manage it.

Neville and fellow Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher recently tried to do a combined XI of the 99 side and Guardiola's team at the moment.

The United legend wasn't really too happy having to do it initially picking an all United because City hadn't reached the achievement yet.

However he eventually relented and picked Ruben Dias, Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, meaning that Yorke and Andy Cole missed out, which hasn't gone down well with the Tobagonian.

"Well, to be quite honest, people go on about this debate that's continuing to unravel. Why are we talking about it? They haven't even done the treble. Until they really have, then there is no debate," Yorke said to the Mirror.

"You know, there is a high possibility, I suppose, that they can do the treble. But that's great. If they do, they will be joining an elite group of players. You know, no other British team has done that. It's not like they're going to try and eclipse what we have done. And so I just don't get it.

"Until they have done that, then let the debate start. You're arguing something that has not happened yet. And until they've done that, then I just really think it's an invaluable sort of debate.

"What if they were to lose one out of the next two cup competition that they enter into? So that debate will never exist.

"So come on, guys, just tell them to grow up both of them. You know, they're going on about stuff that I don't feel that is really needs debating just now, in my opinion."

The shots from Yorke do seem a little harsh considering Neville didn't really want to leave him out of the side and it does make for interesting conversation.

The former Aston Villa striker had an amazing partnership with Cole and the pair were hugely important to United's success, even though substitutes Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer famously scored the winning goals in the Champions League final.

Yorke scored 29 goals in all competitions and Cole 24, as the pair led the line for Fergie's team perfectly, so you can see why he's annoyed not to make it into a combined side.
