Fabrizio Romano has warned Arsenal they must overcome one final hurdle to land Declan Rice this summer.

Manchester City withdrew from the race to sign the West Ham midfielder on Wednesday morning, according to Daily Mail football writer Jack Gaughan.

The news follows reports that Arsenal have submitted a £105 million bid to sign Rice on Tuesday night, with the Gunners now heavy favourites to sign Rice.

However, the Gunners must clear one final hurdle if they are to secure the 24-year-old's signature.

Providing an update on the situation, Romano explained that the north London club still needed to reach an agreement with West Ham over the finer details of a deal.

What did Romano say?

The Italian tweeted: "Arsenal are working on the structure of the deal after £100m plus £5m add ons official bid submitted on Tuesday night for Declan Rice.

"Arsenal and West Ham, in contact to discuss payment terms, instalments and more details."

The Hammers are thought to want the fee paid in two separate instalments before 2025, claim the Daily Mail.

While Sky Sports maintain that West Ham still want £120 million for the England international, but the club would accept £100million plus a player for their skipper.

The proposal would shatter the club’s transfer record and make Rice one of the most expensive players in history and would smash the club's £72m record they paid for Nicolas Pepe in 2019.

Mikel Arteta is also on the verge of completing a £65m with Chelsea for Kai Havertz, with the Gunners boss eager to get his summer business early done in the transfer window.
