David de Gea has responded after his Manchester United teammate Casemiro left him an X-rated note.

Both men started the comfortable 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend, with De Gea keeping a 14th clean sheet in the Premier League.

He didn't face a single shot at the City Ground but Casemiro, United's £70 million summer signing, felt the need to show him some love.

On an autograph card complete with his picture, the Brazilian wrote a personalised message to the former Atletico Madrid shotstopper, telling him that he "loved him" but also branding him a "d******d" in Spanish.

De Gea stumbled across the message and couldn't resist posting it on his Instagram. Confirming the bromance is very much real, he wrote the caption “Love you too bro" and accompanied it with a heart and laughing emoji.

Fans loved the interaction, which they believe shows the strong unity amongst Erik ten Hag's squad this term.

One wrote: "My heart is at peace. The bromance in the team."

Another said: "Last season we had dressing room crisis. This season all I see is love and happiness from all the players."

A third smiled: "The new love in this squad is becoming amazing."

A fourth joked: "Casemiro's love language is tackling."

A final user commented: "What is with these guys and calling themselves name?"

But while Casemiro adores his goalkeeper, he didn't look too happy with him last week. Ahead of the 2-2 Europa League quarter-final draw with Sevilla, De Gea hugged skipper Ivan Rakitic in the tunnel at Old Trafford.

Casemiro wasn't even discreet in giving the Spaniard a seriously dirty look as he watched his colleague embrace a player he battled with so often during the Barcelona and Real Madrid rivalry.

He pulled a similar expression in the play-off round when De Gea shared a hug with Barca goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen.
