'Chaotic' compilation of Darwin Nunez's performance against Aston Villa shows he's a handful

It's fair to say Darwin Nunez was a handful against Aston Villa, with a compilation of his performance showing his 'chaotic' nature.

Nunez led the line as Liverpool resumed their Premier League campaign with a 3-1 victory over Villa on Boxing Day.

He failed to get on the score-sheet, but played a big role in his side's third goal in their win at Villa Park and was named 'Man of the Match'.

With the score 2-1, Nunez made a great run as he latched onto Joe Gomez's lofted through ball. He used his pace to get off a shot which was parried by Robin Olsen, eventually landing to the feet of Stefan Bajcetic, who calmly slotted home for Liverpool's third goal. Bajcetic's goal showed what Nunez can offer as he created a chance almost out of nothing.

Player Rating: 7/10

Nunez had chances to score, but fluffed his lines in front of goal. But he was constant menace to the Villa defenders, completing 12 touches in the opposition box.

What was said about his performance:

Speaking after Liverpool's win on the road, Jurgen Klopp hailed Nunez's outing and has 'no doubt' he will score goals.

"Incredible, what a game he played. But then life is unfair. One foot, one inch, maybe less, decides if the ball goes in or not. But he will score no doubt about that," he said.

"That makes him really special, the work-rate he put in, the spaces, the depth he creates for us. He's unstoppable in the moment when we keep the ball and pass it in the right moment, there's no defender who can catch up speed-wise."

Overall Verdict:

Naturally, as a striker, the 23-year-old is going to be judged on his goals. While he didn't score against Villa, he clearly showed what he can offer to Klopp's Liverpool team. He's equipped with searing pace, but is just missing that composure when he's through on goal.
