Cristiano Ronaldo's Instagram Post To Start 2022 Has Left Football Fans Very Confused

Cristiano Ronaldo has posted an emotional Happy New Year message to fans on social media - but many think it's worded very awkwardly.

2021 saw Ronaldo make a long-awaited return to Manchester United but it hasn't all gone to plan, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being sacked in November.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has admitted it wasn't the strongest of years... while bringing up the insane number of goals he's scored.

He said: "2021 is coming to an end and it was far from being an easy year, despite my 47 goals scored across all competitions."

If that's far from an easy year, then what else do you have left to show Cristiano?

Ronaldo won the Coppa Italia and Italian Supercup with Juventus last season before Andrea Pirlo was sacked for a disappointing campaign.

Fans have picked up on Ronaldo's humblebrag in the first few lines of his post and they've reacted on social media.

One commented: "I too am extremely humble."

Another added: "How can this be real? Sometimes I just can't grasp it. It's like the universe wants to mock you.

A third said: "This has serious 'My father gave me a small loan of 1 million dollars' energy."

While someone put: "Yes first para itself. Can't beat this guy."

The 36-year-old scored on Thursday night as United ended 2021 with a comfortable 3-1 win over Burnley.

Scott McTominay opened the scoring inside eight minutes with a drive from just outside the box.

United found themselves 2-0 up before the half hour mark after Jadon Sancho's shot was turned in by Clarets defender Ben Mee.

Ronaldo netted United's third from close distance after McTominay had a shot saved from Wayne Hennessey.

Aaron Lennon gave Sean Dyche's men a glimmer of hope seven minutes from the break but United remain beaten under Rangnick.

United are sixth in the Premier League table and four points behind Arsenal in fourth.
