Cristiano Ronaldo Removes Shirt After Scoring 95th Minute Winner, Goal Gets Disallowed

Cristiano Ronaldo Removes Shirt After Scoring 95th Minute Winner, Goal Gets Disallowed

Cristiano Ronaldo thought he'd scored a last minute winner but VAR had other ideas.

Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated what he thought was a last minute winner by removing his shirt - only for the goal to be disallowed.

The Portuguese superstar came off the bench for Juventus in the season opener against Udinese and headed home a superb cross from Federico Chiesa in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner put Juventus 3-2 up and instantly whisked off his shirt before being mobbed by his teammates in some wild scenes.

But a VAR check deemed Ronaldo to have been slightly offside and so the goal was chalked off and the game finished 2-2.

Ronaldo's celebration did not count for anything, although his yellow card still stood.

Prior to the fixture, there had been talk that Ronaldo's absence from the starting XI was due to him requesting to not start.

Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sport Italia reported it was in relation to the 36-year-old wanting to leave Juventus before the transfer window closes this month.

Although no official offer has been sent to Juve, it's claimed Ronaldo is hopeful of a proposal coming in.

However, Juventus vice-president Pavel Nedved refuted the story and was adamant Ronaldo would not be leaving Turin anytime soon.

“We mustn’t try to create sensational stories where there aren’t any,” the 2003 Ballon d'Or winner told DAZN.

“It was a decision shared with the player. At the start of the season, naturally he is not at top fitness. The coach is trying to use the best line-up at this moment, for example Giorgio Chiellini is also on the bench today.

“The decisions were made to be most competitive today.

“I can absolutely confirm Ronaldo will remain at Juventus this season.”
