Cristiano Ronaldo has said that he would be happy to see Arsenal win the Premier League during his interview with Piers Morgan.

During what was a damning interview, Ronaldo blasted Manchester United for their treatment of him during what he described as the most difficult period of his life.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also took aim at Ralf Rangnick, Erik ten Hag and former teammates Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney.

Gunners fan Morgan then quizzed Ronaldo on whether he would like to see Mikel Arteta’s side lift the Premier League trophy. He said: “I hope so.”

However, Ronaldo quickly added: “Manchester first, and if not, Arsenal is some team that I like to see play.

“I like the team. I like the coach. I think they have a good team. And if Manchester United don’t win the Premier League, I will be happy if Arsenal do.”

Ronaldo also looked ahead to the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, which gets underway this weekend.

On his country’s chances of winning, the Portugal captain said: “I am very optimistic. We have a fantastic coach, we have a good generation of football players. I'm looking forward that we're going to it an amazing World Cup… [It’s] gonna be tough. Extremely difficult. But everything is possible. But of course, we're gonna compete.”

Ronaldo also joked that he would retire if he manages to fire his country to World Cup glory.

When quizzed on his retirement, Ronaldo said: “I want to play two years more, three years more. So two or three years maximum. I want to finish with 40. I think 40, will be a good age… But I don't know, I don't know the future. Sometimes you plan one thing for your life and as I told many times, life is dynamic. And you never know what's going to happen.”

Portugal will start their World Cup campaign on 24th November against Ghana, before taking on Uruguay and South Korea.

Can Ronaldo win the World Cup with Portugal? Only time will tell.
