Fans have new theory as they are adamant Cristiano Ronaldo unfollowed Bernardo Silva

Cristiano Ronaldo and Bernardo Silva are international teammates

Eagle-eyed fans have come up with a new theory as they are convinced that Cristiano Ronaldo has unfollowed Bernardo Silva on Instagram.

Although the pair never crossed paths at the same club, Ronaldo and Silva play for the Portugal national team together.

To date, Ronaldo has racked up 198 caps for Portugal whilst Silva has 80.

Now, fans have been theorising that Ronaldo has unfollowed Silva on Instagram after the Manchester City midfielder’s latest Ballon d’Or predictions.

When asked to name his favourites for the prestigious award, Silva snubbed his international teammate.

He told L’Equipe: “If [Eriling] Haaland wins the league and the Champions League, you can put him in the Ballon d’Or discussion, and you can also talk about Vinicius Jr.

“If Madrid win the Champions League, but in general, it is between [Lionel] Messi and the winner of the champions, and so far, I will give it to Messi.”

Following these comments, fans think that Ronaldo no longer follows Silva, but follows other international teammates such as Bruno Fernandes, Pepe and Joao Moutinho.

However, it is unconfirmed whether Ronaldo was following Silva prior to the comments.

Fans were quick to react to Silva’s comments on social media.

One said: “Certain someone won't like that.”

Another tweeted: “Ronaldo unfollowing another teammate because he chose Messi. Messi owns him without even trying”

A third fan added: “No way Ronaldo already unfollowed Bernardo Silva on Instagram.”

Someone else wrote: “Nah surely Ronaldo hasn’t unfollowed Bernardo Silva because he picked Messi.”

After his second stint with Manchester United ended bitterly in November, Ronaldo made a big money move to the Middle East to sign for Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr.

So far, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has played 16 times for his new club, scoring 12 goals.

Ronaldo and Al Nassr will be back in action on Tuesday as they take on Al Taee in the Saudi Professional League.
