Saudi club schedules medical for Ronaldo as mega-money move edges closer after Man Utd exit

Saudi club schedules medical for Ronaldo as mega-money move edges closer after Man Utd exit

Al-Nassr have booked a medical for Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of a potential move to the club, according to a report.

Al-Nassr have booked a medical for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to a report, in a new development surrounding his potential move to the Saudi Arabian club.

The 37-year-old departed Manchester United last month by 'mutual agreement', ending his second spell at the club.

Ronaldo rejoined United from Juventus on deadline day in the 2021 summer transfer window, scoring 26 goals in all competitions last term.

This season, however, has been less successful for the Portugal legend, who netted three goals in 16 appearances prior to his Red Devils exit.

He was also dropped to the bench for his nation's World Cup last 16 tie against Switzerland, and ended the tournament with one goal in five appearances.

Whilst the tournament was ongoing, CBS Sports reported that Ronaldo had been offered a contract worth $75 million-a-year to play for Al-Nassr into his 40s.

The forward, speaking on December 7, denied suggestions that he was set to join the Saudi Arabian club. But a new report suggests a deal could now be advancing.

Al-Nassr 'schedule Ronaldo medical'

CBS Sports now claim that, as per a club source, Al-Nassr have scheduled a medical for Ronaldo ahead of a potential big-money move.

They say that Ronaldo and his advisors are understood to have been offered accommodation by the club, who are clearly keen to seal a deal for one of the greatest forwards of all time.

However, it is also reported that, whilst the 'broad terms' of a contract have been agreed, the forward is yet to make a final decision on whether he will move to the Middle East.

Speaking to Flashscore (quotes via Eurosport), Al-Nassr sporting director Marcelo Salazar refused to be drawn on answering questions about whether Ronaldo will join the club: "I'm not allowed to say yes or no. Let's wait and see how things unfold until the end of the year.

"As you can see, this is a negotiation of enormous magnitude, not only for the club, but for the country and for world football, and which has to be conducted by higher authorities."

Al-Nassr are currently managed by former Lyon and Roma boss Rudi Garcia, and they top the Saudi Pro League on goals scored after nine games.

Their squad contains former Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, Cameroon star Vincent Aboubakar and Brazilian playmaker Anderson Talisca.
