Cristiano Ronaldo faces the possibility of an awkward reunion at Al-Nassr after signing a two-year deal with the Saudi club.

Ronaldo, 37, had been a free agent after his Manchester United contract was terminated by "mutual agreement" in November.

United opted to cut ties with Ronaldo after he attacked several senior figures at the club, including manager Erik ten Hag, in an explosive televised interview with Piers Morgan.

After considering his options, Ronaldo has now signed a highly-lucrative deal with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

The Daily Mail claim the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is set to earn as much as £175m per year over the course of a deal which could last seven years.

Ronaldo is expected to play for the club for two-and-a-half years before moving into an ambassadorial role, with his salary due to increase over the course of his contract.

The former Real Madrid star is not the only La Liga legend on Al-Nassr's radar, with the club also reportedly targeting a deal for Ronaldo's former teammate Sergio Ramos.

The 36-year-old is out of contract with Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season and is free to negotiation a pre-contract agreement from the start of January.

Al-Nassr interested in Busquets

Al-Nassr are also said to be considering a move for Barcelona icon Sergio Busquets.

Like Ramos, Busquet's current contract is due to run out in the summer and the 34-year-old has already confirmed he will leave the Nou Camp when it expires.

He has been strongly linked with a move to the MLS and David Beckham's Inter Miami but Mundo Deportivo claim Al-Nassr could also make an approach.

Should they sign Busquets, it would make for a potentially awkward reunion with his former El Clasico rival Ronaldo.

Back in 2018, Busquets said Ronaldo's great rival Lionel Messi was a cut above the Portuguese star and any other player in the world.

"The best in the world now and for many years is Messi, who is the greatest and will continue to be until he retires," Busquets said.

"[Luka] Modric is spectacular, but Messi has no comparison with Luka or anyone."
