Match of the Week

Matchday 30 ended with a thrilling encounter between Köln and Mainz. Two goals to the good and cruising thanks to Leon Balogun's first-ever Bundesliga goal in the 49th minute, Mainz looked set to climb to fifth and within a point of UEFA Champions League qualification.

However, goals from Marcel Risse, Milos Jojic and Anthony Modeste in the final half-hour turned the game on its head, however, and instead lifted the Billy Goats to tenth and 37 points - enough to feel safe for another season. The 05ers still have a great chance of reaching Europe, but will need to bounce back quickly as a lot of sides are breathing down their necks right now...

Player of the Week

If SV Darmstadt 98 do stay up - and Saturday's 2-0 win over fellow promoted side FC Ingolstadt 04 gives Dirk Schuster's side an excellent chance of beating the drop - then Sandro Wagner will probably never have to buy a drink in the southwestern city again.

The 28-year-old pitched up in Darmstadt last summer after only scoring eight goals in 75 appearances in a three seasons at Hertha Berlin, but netted a remarkable goal 13th goal of the season in yesterday's triumph - his fourth goal in the last five games. What's more, his assist for Konstantin Rausch's opening goal was his fourth of the campaign - more than his six previous Bundesliga seasons combined.

Goal of the Week

Bayer 04 Leverkusen's Kevin Kampl was substituted on in the 69th minute and he opened the scoring seconds later with his first touch of the game. The Slovenian midfielder has been on the sidelines for eight weeks with a leg fracture and was brought onto the pitch in the second half for the injured Chicharito.

Seconds later, the ball fell to his feet following a free kick and he buried it in the back of the net for his second Bundesliga goal this season and first since September. The technique was incredible and showed a lot of confidence for a player who hasn't featured that often recently. Kampl may see more playing time if Chicharito remains out after suffering a left knee injury.

Moment of the Week

Christian Pulisic is another Dortmund star with reason for celebration. Handed only his third start in the top flight by Thomas Tuchel, the young attacking midfielder netted his first Bundesliga goal to open the scoring against Hamburg. It was a fine strike, worked from a short corner and finished emphatically past Rene Adler at the near post.

"I was so excited to finally get my first goal in the Bundesliga. It was just amazing," he said afterwards. Indeed, at only 17 years and 212 days, Pulisic is now the fourth-youngest top-flight goalscorer in history, with only Timo Werner (VfB Stuttgart), Julian Draxler (VfL Wolfsburg) and his team-mate Nuri Sahin younger when they netted for the first time.

Flop of the Week

Hannover 96 damaged Borussia Mönchengladbach's top-four aspirations with an impressive 2-0 win at the HDI Arena in Matchday 30's curtain-raiser. Boasting their youngest starting line-up for almost 30 years, Hannover made a vibrant start. Kenan Karaman was a threat on the left-hand side, and was involved in the hosts' best move of the opening stages, although Hiroshi Kiyotake could only fire his shot over the bar. Fabian Johnson then spurned a good opportunity at the other end, but Daniel Stendel's side remained in the driving seat, and would have gone ahead five minutes before the break but for Yann Sommer's fine save from Noah-Joel Sarenren-Bazee.

Hannover got the goal their dominance deserved four minutes into the second half. The impressive Sarenren-Bazee was again involved, bounding to the touchline before cutting the ball back for Waldemar Anton, whose powerful shot was fumbled by Sommer. Not content with just the one goal, they upped the ante and scored a second when Artur Sobiech turned home the rebound from Karaman's effort which hit the post. Gladbach briefly flickered into life after going two goals down, with substitute Ibrahima Traore a threat, but Hannover held on comfortably to record only a sixth win of the season.

Story of the Week

Peruvian legend Claudio Pizarro offered another reminder of his enduring class in calmly slotting the penalty that helped SV Werder Bremen to a priceless 3-2 win over VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday afternoon. It was the 37-year-old's 13th goal of an injury-interrupted campaign, and his fifth in his last five games - his best run of scoring since early 2001.

That strike means that he has now scored 102 Bundesliga goals for the club, making him the outright leading scorer in Werder's top-flight history. He is one clear of previous holder Marco Bode. "It means a lot to me. I now have to score as many goals as possible in order to make sure that no one can catch me anytime soon," Pizarro said with a smile.
