'Freddy Adu bags his 12th hat-trick of the season, days after collecting the prestigious Player of the Year award. The American wonderkid will go down in history as one of the greatest players in the history of football, scoring 623 goals in 520 games. Sensational.'

Ah, Football Manager 2008 was a great game, wasn't it? What happened Freddy?

The boy touted to become the next Pele instead once ended up advertising handheld vacuums on Twitter to obviously try and suck up some cash in the process. Banter.

Here's the picture of Freddy, looking extremely happy with his brand new, top of the range 2-in-1 cordless Vacuum.

Jokes aside, this is a very sad picture - what could of been.

Unsurprisingly at the time, Twitter users did not sympathise with the American, who is now 27 and without a club after failing his latest trial with MLS club Portland Timbers.

According to Aftonbladet in Sweden, Adu is on his way to Oskarshamns AIK, who play in the third tier of Swedish football. The former wonderkid is subject to a contract offer from Oskarshamns and is expected to fly over to Sweden for talks at the start of next week.

Should the deal go ahead, it would be the the 14th transfer of Adu's underwhelming career. He would also tick another country off the list, having played in eight different countries at the age of 28.
