Chelsea and England star Ben Chilwell has multiple tattoos on his body that carries special meanings.

The full back has the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5 just below his left knee, the digits represents the number 1235 that is embroidered on his red England cap, meaning he was the 1235th player to represent the Three Lions.

On his left forearm he has the words ‘Halfway There’ tattooed. When asked about the meaning behind that, Chilwell said: “Because you are never where you want to be. You are always halfway there.” and then he jokingly added: “And because it is halfway up my arm!”

The image of the Champions League trophy is inked on Chilwell’s right forearm.

The 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes in the 2021 Champions League final, a first half goal by Kai Havertz was enough as they narrowly beat Manchester City 1-0 and were crowned European champions for the second time in the club’s history.

He was then asked whether he has left any room for a potential Premier League and World Cup trophy.

The Chelsea full back replied: “There are a few spots. The World Cup would be a bit bigger than that though.”

Chilwell endured a difficult 21/22 campaign, he ruptured parts of the cruciate in his right knee during a Champions League clash with Juventus in November, in December during a training session he felt his knee buckle again and decided to have surgery a few days later. That meant his season was all but over before the turn of the year.

Now seven months later, he is fully fit and ready to go. He and his team mates arrived in America for the club’s pre season tour.

Chilwell was asked whether he worried about missing the chance to go to the World Cup with England.

He replied: “We are still four or five months away from the World Cup so if I play well, I’m confident I will be in the squad.”

“That’s my mental headspace. I’ve dreamed of playing in a World Cup and to know it’s just around the corner is more motivation.”

He added: “It would be the highlight not just of my career but of my life.”

Chilwell joined Chelsea from Leicester in a deal worth £50 million back in 2021. To date, he has made a total of 55 appearances for the Stamford Bridge club across all competitions. He has also chipped in with seven goals.

The Blues first game of their pre season tour will take place on 17 July, when they face Club America.
