Chelsea fans believe they've guessed who the club's new penalty taker will be following Jorginho's shock deadline day transfer to Arsenal.

The 31-year-old signed an 18-month contract with the Premier League winners on Tuesday, with an option to extend for a further year, bringing his three-and-a-half-year stint at Stamford Bridge to an end.

Jorginho helped Chelsea to Europa League and Champions League glory after arriving from Napoli in 2019. His experience will be missed around Cobham, as will his ability from the spot.

Regarded as one of the best penalty takers in world football, Jorginho's hopping technique has seen him score 19 in the league and miss just three.

They're big boots to fill. Chelsea are currently 10th in the Premier League and will need all the help they can to reach the top four.

Manchester United occupy the final Champions League spot and sit 10 points clear of the Blues, who have signed a whopping eight players this month.

David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos, Benoit Badiashile, Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Malo Gusto and Enzo Fernandez were all purchased for a cumulative sum of £300 million.

It looks like none of them will have the pressure of converting from 12 yards out put on their shoulders. That'll fall on someone who knows a thing or two about clutch moments.

Images from training ahead of Friday's clash with Fulham have emerged and Kai Havertz looks to have been practicing penalties.

The Germany international has only taken one for Chelsea in his career and it was an important one to say the least. He scored the winner against Palmeiras last year to crown Chelsea as Club World Cup champions for the first time in history.

At the time, Havertz was Chelsea's third-choice penalty taker behind Jorginho and Romelu Lukaku. Both are no longer at the club, which makes the 23-year-old a natural successor.

He said after scoring against Palmeiras: "I was, I have to be honest. It's a big penalty, a big goal again, it's just crazy. It was good that I kept my nerves and I'm very happy.

"I think I was the third penalty taker, Jorgi (Jorginho) and Rom (Romelu Lukaku) were out, I was the only one on the pitch. The other players gave me their trust. Hakim (Ziyech) asked me, everyone said you do it and I did it. I don't know what to say. I dreamed always as a kid of this, it's just an amazing feeling."

Chelsea supporters are hoping Havertz can use goals from penalties as a way to boost his confidence.

One person said: "Good to practice with Kepa too who’s usually got a solid penalty record which can improve the takers too."

Another put: "Wouldn’t be against it. As much as he’s been a controversial player among the fans, he’s ice cold when the stage lights are upon him."

While a third commented: "I will say it does seem like it’s a make or break next couple of months for him."
