Chelsea bound transfer has been tied up by teammates so he misses his flight to London

Chelsea bound transfer has been tied up by teammates so he misses his flight to London

Andrey Santos is on the verge of moving from Vasco da Gama to Chelsea

Young Brazilian star Andrey Santos was on the end of a prank by his teammates ahead of his proposed move to Chelsea.

Santos is regarded as one of the biggest talents in Brazilian football and has been capped at under-20 level for his national team.

The 18-year-old looks destined to join Chelsea as the Blues managed to beat some of the biggest clubs in Europe for the midfielder’s signature. ESPN reported that the Stamford Bridge club have agreed a deal with Vasco da Gama and a move should be done in the January transfer window.

However, Santos’ teammates aren't too keen to let him go as they hilariously pranked him by tying him up so that he would miss his flight to London to seal the transfer.

Santos is believed to be the first of many midfield signings that manager Graham Potter is targeting as he looks to bolster his options.

With the likes of Jorginho and N’Golo Kante likely to leave the club in the summer, Santos will first act as a backup before playing a more important role in the 23/24 campaign.

In addition to Santos, Chelsea have already sealed the deal for striker David Datro Fofana from Molde FK.

The Blues are also believed to be in the running for Argentina’s World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez, but they are facing tough competition from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid. Benfica are set to demand at least £120 million for the midfielder.

Since Chelsea’s new ownership, led by American businessman Todd Boehly took over, there has been a change in their transfer policy as they have been looking at players that will be a huge part of the club’s future.

The likes of Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, Gabriel Slonina and Omari Hutchinson all joined the Blues in the summer.

On the January transfer window, Potter said: “I would say the January window isn't so straightforward to find solutions.

“From my perspective, the autumn fixture list was an extreme period – and I would not want to make too many drastic assessments [on players] based on that extreme period.”

Chelsea are next in action this weekend as they take on Nottingham Forest.
