Chelsea Legends Respond To Claim Cesar Azpilicueta Is 'Lucky'

Neil Warnock claimed Azpilicueta was 'very fortunate' to have had success at Chelsea but legends John Terry and Cesc Fabregas don't agree.

Cesar Azpilicueta is a lucky man according to Neil Warnock, but the Chelsea defender's former teammates aren't so convinced by the assessment.

Warnock, less than affectionately known as Colin to some fans, claimed recently that Azpilcueta was very fortunate to have been at Chelsea.

The former Middlesbrough boss reckons that the full back isn't actually a good defender and he's been lucky to be playing for the Blues and get the success that's come from it.

Seeing as the 32-year-old has won literally every competition possible during his 10 seasons at Stamford Bridge suggests that Warnock might be wrong, and two of his former teammates certainly don't agree.

Former Chelsea captain John Terry took to Twitter and quote tweeted the video of the former Sheffield United manager's opinion, saying 'Is this a wind up?'

And Terry wasn't the only one, former Blues midfielder Cesc Fabregas also took to social media to put across his dismay at the extremely hot take.

The Monaco midfielder also went on Twitter, this time to reply to talkSPORT's tweet, just using three emojis to show what he thought of Warnock's opinion.

Chelsea won the FIFA Club World Cup at the weekend, meaning that there isn't much that Azpilicueta hasn't won since moving to west London from Marseille in 2012.

The defender has helped his team win two Premier League titles, the FA and League Cups, the Champions League, Europa League and UEFA Super Cup, as well as the Club World Cup.

It's certainly a hell of a take about a player who has even been his team's Player of the Season in the past, and been in the Team of the Tournament in both the Champions League and Europa League winning seasons.

Chelsea's win in the World Club Cup seems to have courted more controversy than you'd expect from being named the world champions.

As well as the criticism for Azpilcueta, the team were criticised for celebrating by one pundit, because whilst they were away they fell further behind Manchester City and Liverpool.

They were probably too busy celebrating to notice at the weekend to be fair...
