Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said that he would like to see three of his Monaco team mates that he helped develop end up at a club like Liverpool or Bayern Munich.

The former Spanish international joined the French Ligue 1 side from Chelsea in 2019 in a deal worth around £10million. Now coming to the end of his contract at the club, he will be departing after the final game of the season this weekend.

Fabregas only managed five appearances this season for Monaco after enduring an injury hit season, but he has been working behind the scene to help Monaco’s next generation of talent come through the ranks.

Fabregas has been speaking to RMC Sport about his time at a club that were in a spot of bother when he joined in 2019, at that time, his former Arsenal team mate Thierry Henry was at the helm.

He said: “At the time, I signed with one objective: to save the team, then 19th with 13 points. I took a big risk because relegation was possible.”

Fabregas then spoke about how Henry and the club’s former president, Vadim Vasilyev asked him to help grow the youngsters.

He said: “When I came, Thierry and Vadim also asked me to help grow the young people. It was an important point. Today, I feel like I have won the respect and sympathy of this younger generation.”

“I hope I have helped. We like each other and I will continue to follow them, exchange with them. I would like to see (Youssouf) Fofana, (Sofiane) Diop or (Aurelien) Tchouameni at Bayern or Liverpool!”

In recent weeks, Tchouameni has been frequently linked with a move to Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly hoping to bring in a young midfielder to freshen up his options in the middle of the park.

The 22 year-old has enjoyed a stellar season and have made eight caps for France already, he is said to be tracked by many top clubs around the continent.

The other two mentioned by Fabregas, Fofana and Diop are perhaps not as well known as Tchouameni, but both are showing signs that they are heading to the very top, with both men making 41 appearances for Monaco this season.
