Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has called on Jurgen Klopp to make a surprise selection ahead of their game against Arsenal on Sunday.

The Reds travel to North London in what is a huge game for both sides as they look to finish the season off strongly.

Arsenal remain top of the Premier League table but the gap to second-placed Manchester City shrunk to just five points following their win on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are fighting to qualify for Europe although it looks like they will miss out on Champions League football next season.

One of their former players turned pundit Carragher has been giving his verdict on the game recently and called on boss Klopp to make a surprise selection.

What did he say?

Speaking on Sky Sports' essential football podcast, as per the Liverpool Echo, he said: "It will be interesting to see what role Thiago plays, whether he goes on the bench and he comes on or if he starts the game.

"Only Jurgen Klopp knows how fit Thiago is, but if there’s no chance of a recurrence of an injury I’d probably start him.

"If he’s anywhere near, I would be putting Thiago straight in that team and trying to get the foot on the ball and a bit of possession and creativity from that position."

A lot of Liverpool's problems have come from midfield this season, so having Thiago back would be a big boost for the Reds in this game.

He's been out since February missing Liverpool's last 10 matches in all competitions and he could play a significant role in creating chances going forward.

Arsenal have only lost three league games all season but going to Anfield and winning is a big ask for any team no matter what form the hosts are in.

"I've got the Anfield factor in the back of my head, there could be an atmosphere and could that get to Arsenal players?" Carragher added.

"I can never go against Liverpool at Anfield and I don't think I ever have or ever will. I will go 2-1 Liverpool."
