Callum Hudson Odoi in talks over a move away as Chelsea exit edges closer

Callum Hudson Odoi in talks over a move away as Chelsea exit edges closer

The Chelsea winger has found it difficult to nail down a regular spot in Thomas Tuchel’s team.

Callum Hudson Odoi is seeking a move away from Chelsea in order to play regular first team football.

The 21-year-old was left out of the Chelsea squad for the match against Everton on Saturday. According to the Daily Mail, he has asked to leave the club in a bid for regular game time.

It has been reported that a loan move is the most likely solution for Hudson Odoi’s future. Clubs like Southampton, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are all said to be keeping a keen eye on the winger’s situation.

And it looks like Dortmund are at the front of the queue for Hudson Odoi’s signature. According to Sky Sports News, the player’s representatives are currently in talks with the German club’s officials over a potential loan move.

Last month, Hudson Odoi spoke to Chelsea’s official website and declared his desire to play regular football.

He said: “I want to be playing as much as possible.

“Regular football brings out the consistency so I want to just keep playing and playing as much as I can.”

Hudson Odoi was one of the star players during England’s U17 World Cup win in 2017, and a few months later made his Chelsea debut. He then went on to become England’s youngest ever senior debutant in a competitive match in March 2019.

However, a serious achilles injury later that year drastically halted his progress, ever since then, he has struggled to find any consistent good form. As a result, he has failed to establish himself in a Chelsea side packed with world class attacking talents including the likes of Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic

With the signing of Raheem Sterling this summer, Hudson Odoi will need to look elsewhere if he his to play regularly.

Chelsea are set to have a busy end to the summer transfer window as a number of players are likely to depart.

Aside from Hudson Odoi, the likes of Timo Werner and Marcos Alonso are edging closer to an exit.

German striker Werner is set to return to RB Leipzig after a turbulent spell at Stamford Bridge where he never got the chance to hit the ground running.

Spanish full back Alonso is attracting interest from La Liga giants Barcelona

Chelsea’s next match will be against Tottenham Hotspur next Saturday.
