Bayern Munich fans come to immediate verdict on Luis Diaz after making debut against Lyon

Luis Diaz made his Bayern Munich debut on Saturday following his transfer from Liverpool.

Bayern Munich fans have delivered their verdict on Luis Diaz after he made his debut for the club following his big-money move from Liverpool.

Bayern pulled out all the stops to sign Diaz from Liverpool this summer.

They shelled out a cool £65.5 million to lure him away from Anfield, with the Colombian winger making his debut for his new team on Saturday.

Bayern, who were involved in this summer's Club World Cup, played their first match since their campaign in the United States when they hosted Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.

Diaz entered the fray in the second-half and made an instant impression.

It took just minutes for the 28-year-old to have a shot on target. He then won his side a penalty, which was converted by Michael Olise.

He also came close to scoring in the 88th minute but was again denied by Mathieu Patouillet.

The 28-year-old was a constant threat on the left-wing and his showing excited Bayern fans ahead of the 2025/26 season.

A second said: "His pace, flair, and relentless drive are tailor-made for the Bundesliga, and if this debut is anything to go by, Bayern have landed themselves a difference maker."

A third added: "Instant impact! Diaz didn’t waste a second - electric from the moment he stepped on. Bayern got this one right."

Another commented: "Liverpool lost a gem."

Diaz helped Liverpool to Premier League glory last season, weighing in with 13 league goals in 36 games.

He has signed a four-year contract with the option of an extra year with Bayern.

Diaz will be looking for more minutes under his belt when his new club resume their pre-season against Tottenham next Thursday.

Bayern also take on Grasshoppers before facing Stuttgart in the German Super Cup. They begin the defence of their league title against RB Leipzig on August 22.
