A new report has detailed the reaction to Erik ten Hag's 62-day reign as Bayer Leverkusen manager from those behind the scenes at the German club – and it makes for an eye-opening read.
On Monday morning, Leverkusen confirmed the departure of Ten Hag after just three competitive games in charge.
The 55-year-old former Manchester United manager was appointed Xabi Alonso's successor in May, but things quickly turned sour after Leverkusen made him the Bundesliga's second-highest paid manager on £4.7 million per year.
Ten Hag's stint at the Bay Arena has been heavily criticised. German publication BILD held nothing back on Monday, claiming his list of mistakes was "already too long after just three competitive games".

And now, the outlet has published a more detailed report featuring some telling reactions from those behind the scenes at Leverkusen.

It is said the club's long-standing employees ranked Ten Hag as one of the worst coaches in their history after he "failed to convey any ideas" to his new group of players.
"No one knew what to do," the report added. "Not even when they were leading 3-1 against Werder Bremen. There were individual actions, but no game plan."

As well as the above, players were reportedly puzzled over why push-ups in training seemed to have a similar importance as running and passing drills.
The report goes on to suggest that his relationships with staff and players were "strained" and "he couldn't connect with anyone".
In fact, such was the level of discontent, it was suggested Leverkusen had "perhaps waited too long" in sacking Ten Hag, who has since released a statement after being relieved of his duties.

Shortly after his sacking, the Dutchman released a statement on the matter through his agents, SEG Football.

"The decision by Bayer Leverkusen's management this morning to put me on a leave of absence came as a complete surprise," the statement begins. "To part ways with a coach after just two league matches is unprecedented.
"This summer, many key players who were part of past successes left the squad. Building a new, cohesive team is a careful process that requires both time and trust. A new coach deserves the space to implement his vision, set the standards, shape the squad and leave his mark on the style of play.
"I started this job with full conviction and energy, but unfortunately the management was not willing to grant me the time and trust I needed, which I deeply regret. I feel this was never a relationship based on mutual trust."

Ten Hag continues: "Throughout my career, every season I have been able to see through to the end as a coach has brought success. Clubs that placed their trust in me have been rewarded with success and silverware.
"Finally, I would like to thank the Bayer Leverkusen supporters for their warmth and passion, and I wish the squad and staff every success for the remainder of the season."
