Manchester United face a nervous wait over the fitness of Bruno Fernandes ahead of their crucial match against Tottenham.

United remain on course for a domestic cup double in Erik ten Hag's debut season as manager after narrowly beating Brighton in their FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.

United won 7-6 on penalties after the match finished goalless, with Victor Lindelof scoring the winning spot-kick following Solly March's miss.

Carabao Cup winners United will now face rivals City in the first all-Manchester FA Cup final at Wembley on June 3.

United's attention will now turn to the Premier League, with Ten Hag's side currently fourth and on course to qualify for the Champions League next season.

They next face fifth-place Tottenham, who were thrashed 6-1 by Newcastle on Sunday.

Spurs are currently six points behind United, having played two games more, and the north London club need to beat the Red Devils on Thursday to give themselves a realistic chance of finishing in the top four.

Fernandes a doubt to face Tottenham

According to ESPN, United are sweating on the fitness of Fernandes ahead of the midweek trip to Tottenham.

Fernandes sustained an ankle injury in the first half of United's semi-final win over Brighton.

Conversations were held on the bench about substituting Fernandes at the time of his injury and also at half time, but he was allowed to continue before eventually being replaced in the first half of extra time.

The Portugal international was later spotted limping after the match at Wembley but was not wearing a protective boot.

ESPN claim he will be assessed by United's medical staff on Monday before a decision is made about whether or not he can train with the squad this week and feature against Spurs.

Ten Hag will be desperate to have his vice-captain available, with United already without several injured players – including Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Alejandro Garnacho.
