Brighton players slammed for celebrating Man Utd win 'like a cup final' as dressing room footage emerges

Brighton and Hove Albion recorded a late victory against Manchester United on Thursday night

Fans felt Brighton and Hove Albion’s celebrations were over the top after their late win against Manchester United.

On Thursday night, Brighton were hoping to continue their late charge for European football with a victory against United, who were looking to cement themselves in the top four.

In what was largely a cagey affair, the drama arrived right at the end of the match.

With 98 minutes on the clock, Luke Shaw was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the penalty area after a VAR check.

Referee Andre Marriner reviewed the incident on the pitch side monitor and pointed to the spot.

Alexis Mac Allister stepped up and converted the penalty in stunning fashion to seal a 1-0 win for Brighton.

After the match, footage from inside the Seagulls' dressing room was shown, which got fans talking on social media.

One said: “Another ‘we beat United’ dressing room video.”

Another tweeted: “Where’s the trophy must be there somewhere.”

A third fan added: “Have they won the premier league or something?”

Someone else wrote: “Great result but no need to celebrate like you’ve just won a cup final!”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Did they win the league today?”

Speaking after the match, Mac Allister told Sky Sports: “It's easy to play in this team. The way we play is very nice, my team-mates are fantastic. It's down to them as well. I'm really pleased to play with them and they help me to be a better player every day.

“They know I like to have that opportunity to score. Of course I was a little bit nervous. I'm very happy every time I have an opportunity to score a goal, so I'm very happy for the team.”

Brighton will be back in Premier League action on Monday as they take on relegation-threatened Everton.

For United, they will have to dust themselves off before facing West Ham on Sunday night.
