Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva wants to leave the club this summer, according to reports from Spain.

The Portuguese international was key in City’s fourth title win in five years this campaign, but Jijantes FC have reported that he would be happy to join Barcelona.

And with City keen to invest in reinforcements in their squad, Silva could be expendable despite his marvellous campaign.

The Portuguese international has been with a switch to La Liga, with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid touted as possible destinations for the marauding number eight.

While Silva had later revealed that struggles living away from his family during COVID-19 played a major role in his desire to mull over a Manchester City exit, it is safe to say that his decision to stay at the club benefited all parties.

There has been talks of extending his contract beyond 2025, but its looking as if City are leaning toward letting him leave the club.

As passed on by journalist Miquel Blázquez, Bernardo Silva still ‘wants’ to leave Manchester City this summer, and would be ‘delighted’ to join Barcelona from next season.

Barcelona are still under financial restraint, with some reports echoing that they have 26 players for sale to ensure more stability for their coming seasons.

Frenkie de Jong is a player who Manchester City have shown interest in, but Manchester United are favourites after Erik ten Hag’s appointment.

But a swap deal may be on the cards if Barcelona want to cash in on the Dutchman, who reportedly earns £400,000 a week.
