Barcelona are reportedly prepared to rip up the initial agreement in order to get rid of Philippe Coutinho, meaning Aston Villa could snap him up for a bargain price.
Coutinho joined the Villa Park outfit last month and has starred under Steven Gerrard, scoring two goals in three appearances for his new side.
He re-opened his Premier League goal account against Manchester United before scoring in his side's 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

The former Liverpool superstar appears to have returned to his world-class best, with Gerrard keen on making his loan move a permanent deal.
And, according to fresh reports from Spanish outlet SPORT, Villa could sign Coutinho for less than their £34 million buy option.
The La Liga giants are hellbent on discarding the player to ease up on their wage bill.
It's thought the club would consider lowering their asking price.
The report claims that Barca believe Villa will not stump up £34 million and will look to negotiate a new price.
It has been suggested that Gerrard's side could secure Coutinho's services for just £21-£25 million.
Of course, Coutinho commanded a whopping £105 million in 2017 when he signed for Barca from Liverpool.
The 29-year-old produced heroics in his last outing for Villa, scoring and setting up two goals.
And speaking after the game, Gerrard hailed a 'vintage' showing from Coutinho.
"It was vintage Philippe Coutinho," he told reporters.
"He seems happy, we have given the stage to go and enjoy his football again.
"His vision and his awareness, if you don’t love watching that you should stop watching football."
